Walking around the town with a sense of gently flowing history
A strolling path with a retro atmosphere in the streets of the kilns. The gentle flow of the Furo River naturally slows your pace as you pass through the alleys and pass by Kimura Korakuen and Momokeido, where you can't help but feel a trace of history. Please enjoy shopping at the studio and gallery, where you will find Bizen Pottery for sale directly.
Delicious food served in Bizen ware
Lunch Enjoy local ingredients
When you are a little tired of walking around town, have lunch. Enjoy delicious dishes served on Bizen ware. Bizen ware is said to have features that prevent food from drying out and from cooling down, and its dense structure and fine pores are said to make sake more delicious.
Tenpou kiln
Climbing Kiln that Preserves the History of the Flame
Bizen ware was mass-produced in the three major kilns in the south, north, and west of the city, but was forced to shrink in scale due to declining clan protection and other factors. The Tenpo Kiln, which is said to have been built during the Tenpo period in the late Edo period, is said to have succeeded in drastically cutting costs by reducing the firing time from the 35 days required by the large kilns to only 10 or so days.
heavenly shrine
Shrine protecting the town of Bizen Pottery
This shrine was built in 1411 and enshrines Sugawara no Michizane. The shrine grounds are filled with Bizen ware-related attractions, such as the guardian dogs, approach to the shrine, and roof tiles all made of Bizen ware, as well as a Bizen ware ceramic board with a Bizen ware artist's seal embedded in the wall along the approach, and a Bizen ware ema (votive picture tablet).
Take a break at a stylish cafe
Coffee aroma and taste enhanced by Bizen ware
It is said that the minute pores of Bizen ware coffee cups alleviate the bitterness and astringency of coffee, transforming it into a mellow, sweet taste. Please enjoy its aroma and taste slowly at the end of your trip.
